The TRB said in a statement that the toll increase and adjustments “have undergone thorough, meticulous and lengthy review by TRB, and were allowed to be implemented only after NLEx Corp. complied with all the procedures and requirements under the 2013 TRB Revised Rules of Procedure.”
“NLEX Corp. was allowed to recover its investment for the newly completed Candaba 3rd Viaduct by way of [an] add-on toll at the Closed System,” TRB added.

It also noted that the collection of the toll hike is the 50 percent, or the first tranche, of the approved toll rate adjustments by NLEx Corp. in 2022.
Further, TRB Spokesperson Julius Corpuz said that the second tranche of toll adjustment may be implemented in 2026.
“The second tranche, supposed to be, will be implemented next year na para doon sa 2022 petition nila (for their 2022 petition),” Corpuz said in an interview with Teleradyo 630 on Friday.
