The International Telecommunications Union (ITU), a global inter-governmental organization on telecommunications composed of 192 member-states and about 700 corporations, has chosen Globe Telecom chief legal counsel Rodolfo Salalima to represent the Asia-Pacific region as vice chairman of a special ITU working group.
The Council Working Group on a Stable ITU Constitution will meet in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 27-29 to tackle and resolve amendment proposals to the ITU’s Constitution and Convention, which is in the nature of a treaty. The Philippines is a party-signatory to it.
The Philippines, being an active member of the ITU, has recently been selected from among the countries in Asia-Pacific to assume the vice chairmanship of the working group.
Current ITU head Hamadoun I. Toure has specifically appointed Salalima for the position, according to Ivan John E. Uy, chairman of the Philippine Commission on Information and Communications Technology.
