RCBC’s tech visionary earns spot on esteemed CIO 100 ASEAN list
Lito Villanueva, Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer at Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), has been honored as one of the top transformational technology leaders in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong at the prestigious CIO100 ASEAN Awards 2024. This accolade recognizes his significant contributions to digital innovation and financial inclusion in the region.
The CIO100 ASEAN Awards held on November 19, 2024 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore celebrate the top 100 senior technology executives and teams driving innovation and rapid change across Southeast Asia. The awards are aligned with Foundry’s global awards program and are viewed as a mark of excellence within the enterprise.
Under Villanueva’s leadership, RCBC launched several groundbreaking digital initiatives aimed at enhancing financial inclusion and providing accessible banking solutions to underserved communities. His efforts have been instrumental in positioning RCBC as a leader in digital banking innovation in the Philippines.
This recognition adds to Villanueva’s growing list of accolades, including being named among The Asian Banker’s (TAB) Global List of Leading Practitioners in Banking and Financial Technology and Asia’s Top Outstanding Netizen (Digital) Marketeer Award from the the Asia Marketing Federation (AMF) earlier this year.
“This recognition is a celebration of the collective efforts of the RCBC team in driving digital transformation and financial inclusion. We remain committed to our mission to provide cutting-edge financial solutions and advance the digital economy in the Philippines,” Villanueva said.
The CIO100 ASEAN Awards continue to be the leading program for technology in the region, forming part of a broader Asia-Pacific initiative alongside the CIO50 Australia, CIO50 New Zealand, and CIO100 India awards.
“Our CIO community features some of the most influential technology leaders and teams in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, spearheading innovation and driving strategic technological change,” said Lim Xiou Ann, Editorial Director of CIO ASEAN, in a statement. “It is our privilege to recognise their efforts and celebrate their achievements – congratulations to all finalists and winners.”
This year’s awards cycle saw expansive entries from the entire region – with tech leaders and teams represented across Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. All entries were reviewed by a select and independent judging panel. The most powerful nominations provided real-world examples of where people and technology successfully delivered value to organisations, driving innovation and leading teams.
