SMC, ADB top list of most sought-after employers in PH

Conglomerate San Miguel Corp. (SMC) of billionaire Ramon S. Ang is the most sought-after employer by Filipinos, while the most preferred nongovernmental organization (NGO) to work for is the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

This is according to JobStreet’s Employee Job Happiness Index 2024 survey, the findings of which were released on Monday by its parent company SEEK.

Following SMC in second and third place are IT services and consulting firm Accenture, which is known for their call centers in the Philippines, and Ayala Corp., the country’s oldest conglomerate.

The other private firms on the list are Google, JP Morgan Chase & Co., SM Development Corp., Nestle, Globe, Procter and Gamble, Aboitiz, Amazon, Banco de Oro and Emapta, an outsourcing company.

Meanwhile, what followed the ADB in second and third place as the most sought-after government agency or NGO employer are the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Department of Education.

Other government agencies and NGOs on the list are the Armed Forces of the Philippines, United Nations, Department of Health, Department of Trade and Industry, Government Service Insurance System, Department of Agriculture, the US Embassy, Commission on Audit, Philippine Ports Authority, and Department of Finance.

In the survey, jobseekers were asked to rank work schedule or location, company reputation, and company values as the top traits they are looking for in their search for a new company or organization to work with.

Work culture, monetary and nonmonetary benefits, and job security, among others, were also part of the considerations that were made, according to JobStreet.

Filipino job seekers were also asked to identify the main platforms they used to learn more about the companies they want to join.

The top platform that was cited at 38 percent was “media,” which consisted of social media, news, as well as printed and online articles.

The two other top sources are company websites, at 17 percent, and word-of-mouth, at 14 percent.

“Therefore, hirers are advised to make their company initiatives more visible on these channels as well as in professional job platforms to attract potential employees” said JobStreet.
