Philippine Daily Inquirer bagged two wins during the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) Awards night held last week.

Alden Monzon of the business section bagged his first EJAP award after being recognized as the Trade Reporter of the Year.

Monzon, who joined Inquirer in August 2022, writes about the plight of the exporters who bring in dollars into the country, commodity-focused stories that directly impact the consumers and the Philippines’ trade relations with its Asean neighbors and rest of the world.

An article series written by Tyrone Jasper Piad, meanwhile, was chosen as the Best Feature Story.

The three-part story talks about the rising cost of mobility in the country and the shift to biking as the cheap and alternative mode of transportation. It also delves into the lack of infrastructure, like protected bike lanes and end-of-trip facilities, which poses challenges to the biking community and threatens their safety on the road.
