De Claro is OIC of SSS after Macasaet quit to join party-list race

MANILA, Philippines — Social Security System (SSS) Commissioner Robert Joseph de Claro has been designated as the agency’s officer-in-charge (OIC).

In an announcement Saturday, SSS said the new OIC succeeded its former president, Rolando Ledesma Macasaet, who resigned on October 3 to run for a House seat under the SSS-GSIS Pensyonado Partylist.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed de Claro as SSS commissioner in January 2023 to represent the employers’ group. He has since chaired the Information Technology and Collection Committee of the state pension and became a member of the SSS Audit Committee, Risk Management and Investment Committee, and Governance Committee.

He was also designated to represent SSS on the board of Union Bank of the Philippines,

“With his broad leadership experience across multiple industries, De Claro is well-equipped to lead the SSS in advancing its mandate of providing comprehensive social security protection to Filipinos,” SSS said in a statement.
