Aboitiz Foods switches on $45-million feed mill in Vietnam
Aboitiz Foods, the integrated food and agribusiness company of the Aboitiz Group, inaugurated its $45-million feed mill facility in Vietnam, expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia.
Located in Long An, a province in the Mekong Delta region in southern Vietnam, the Gold Coin Long An Feed Mill is designed to produce 300,000 metric tons (MT) of animal feed and nutrition products.
Aboitiz Foods said in a statement the facility features “Industry 4.0” technology and a modern laboratory, and “plays a crucial role in meeting the growing demand for high-quality animal nutrition in southern Vietnam.”
The subsidiary expects the facility to reduce time to market and costs as it facilitates efficient trade of finished goods and raw materials, noting it is situated near a long river route with a private port.
“This strategic location enhances food supply and safety chains for central, southern, and Mekong Delta provinces, supporting sustainable growth and employment and ultimately contributing to the economy of Long An province,” Aboitiz Foods added.
The feed mill replaces the company’s Dong Nai mill and complements the Binh Duong plant, also situated in Vietnam, increasing Aboitiz Foods’ total feed production in that country to 1.1 million MT.

In July this year, the company announced the completion of a $23.1-million feed mill in Yunnan province in China, its largest comprehensive feed mill in that area.
Aboitiz Foods said that with a capacity of 150,000 MT that can be expanded by up to 500,00 MT, the feed mill in Yunnan would cater to more species, with products for the swine, poultry, aqua, ruminants and premix segments.
The launch of both plants in Vietnam and China form part of the Aboitiz Group’s food unit to strengthen its feed mill capacity in the Asia-Pacific region.
Its parent firm Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. earmarked almost P4 billion this year to expand its operations in agribusiness.
