Sending packages via DHL Express will be costlier next year as the delivery service provider adjusted its rates to reflect inflation and recover some costs related to expansion.

By Jan. 1, 2025, the prices will go up by 5.9 percent on average. This is higher than the 4.9-percent uptick set this year.

“We are committed to delivering stable and dependable services globally despite the ongoing impact of geopolitical dynamics and supply chain disruptions on the logistics landscape,” DHL Express Philippines country manager Nigel Lockett said in a statement Friday.

The price adjustments are done on an annual basis because of inflation and other costs incurred concerning operations.

At current rates, delivering a 10-kilogram shoe-box-sized package from Manila to Singapore can cost around P4,400. Applying the higher rates, the same delivery would amount to approximately P4,660 in 2025.

“With the annual price adjustment, we can continue to invest in our network to enhance its resilience and adaptability, ensuring consistent support for our customers’ businesses regardless of external circumstances,” he said.

In 2023, the courier service provider launched its upgraded aircraft to handle more cargo chip nets amid the growing demand for logistics, thanks to the booming e-commerce industry. Cargo capacity, as a result, increased from 42 tons (T) to 55 T.

The new aircraft is scheduled to fly 12 times per week serving the routes of Hong Kong, Manila, and Cebu.

Lockett previously said the new unit was part of the company’s continuing investment in the country, which is anticipated to further regain momentum following the reopening of the economy.
