Massachusetts-based US biotech company Thermo Fisher Scientific has recently opened a global business services center in the Philippines, expanding its presence in the country as it ramps up its hiring in the next two years.

In a statement on Tuesday, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)-listed company said it held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new facility in Quezon City last August 29.

The company said the center expands the company’s global network of over 1,600 employees across five existing shared service centers, and will operate as a central hub to deliver financial and customer services in the healthcare and biotech industries.
