NEW YORK—US stocks slumped as markets opened Monday after a meeting of eurozone financial ministers failed to clinch a deal to resolve the Greek debt crisis.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 18.77 points (0.16 percent) to 11,985.59 in the first five minutes of trading.

The broader S&P 500 dropped 2.00 points (0.16 percent) to 1,269.50, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite tumbled 3.17 points (0.12 percent) to 2,613.31.

The fall in US stocks came after European stock markets dived on concerns about Greece, led by shares in European banks with exposure to Greek debt.
