Bonding, Networking at First Manila Corporate Games

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Corporate Games 2012 will hold its first ever event from March 22-25 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Malate Manila.

Building on a legacy that was established in 1988, the World Corporate Games has been staged in 53 cities and in 26 countries with 73 sports competitions on its list around the world.

Jointly presented by Business Mirror through its VP for corporate affairs, Ricky Alegre, Philippines Sports Commission Commissioner Akiko Thompson, as well as People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Athur Florentin, all believe that the event will be a great opportunity to focus on the practical implementation of sports for all sectors and will give the opportunity for sports and government representatives, athletes, agencies, NGOs and academics from around the Metro Manila area to share their experiences and expertise during the three-day festivities.

Metro Manila companies have been advocates of marathons and other physical activities for over the last few years, and as such will be a vibrant meeting point for business experts in different fields and industries.

Team bonding is very relative to the camaraderie of each employee to another employee encouraging cheering for their respective companies during the games.

Also, a great benefit with the Manila Corporate Games is that many companies and organizations will be present not only to compete but also to explore and broaden their business networking during the business enterprise evening also touted as the Great Games Party on March 24.

The party is expected to be full of entertainment and opportunity to mingle with so many other executives and business people.

Players can join any of the 10 sports featured during the three-day event. A combination of selected individual, team, and even new sport is set to take place.

Each team or player will go home enjoying a minimum of three matches and can compete up to seven matches in the whole competition if the championship is reached (except for the marathon, cycling and dragon boat events).

The Supercenter is a massive hub where companies can showcase their products, do some flyering, and even meet different companies in various industries to network.

The Great Games Party is similar to a “sabado night” event as it will be attended by marketing, sales and HR people to use as their team building event as well as their business networking activity.

The awarding ceremonies will be on March 25 when players will receive numerous prizes from sponsors aside from their medals.

A prestigious award will be awarded by the Games Patron for the company or organization with the biggest delegation, and also for the one with most number of medals.

The winners of the Manila Corporate Games will have the chance to represent the Philippines in the World Corporate Games to be held this year in Dubai where delegations from each country will be competing for the world championships.

This culmination of different Games is considered a key event in the calendar of the international leg of Corporate Games in many countries.

Joining the ranks of high-level patrons in the past World Corporate Games in other countries who have hosted the event are Former President Nelson Mandela in South Africa, Princess Anne in United Kingdom, Former President François Mitterand of France, and many other dignitaries.

Thompson and Chairman Ricardo Garcia are going to grace the main celebrations in the Manila Corporate Games.

A grand parade of colors and great games party will be on March 24 when thousands of participants. and expectators are expected to join the festival.
