MANILA, Philippines – A leading telecommunications company has recently been named Best Managed Company in the country.

Telecommunications giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) was named Best Managed Company in the Philippines by FinanceAsia, a prominent financial publication in Asia.

PLDT ranked number one for categories: Most Committed to a Strong Dividend Policy, Best Corporate Governance, and Best Investor Relations. It was also recognized as one of the top companies in the Best Corporate Social Responsibility category.

PLDT President and CEO Napoleon Nazareno ranked second runner-up among the top CEOs of companies in the country.

The awards were the results of an annual poll conducted by FinanceAsia which covered large market capitalization companies. It was based on the tallied votes from more than 300 investors and analysts across the region.

In his acceptance speech, read by Smart Chief Wireless Advisor Orlando Vea during the awarding ceremonies, PLDT Board Chairman Manuel Pangilinan stated that “in a world that keeps adding layer upon layer of complexity, we are constantly reminded that success – and the recognition that it brings – is always a work in progress. It is with that spirit of humility that we accept these awards. Rest assured that these awards will inspire us to keep serving our shareholders, customers, our communities and our country to the best of our abilities.”
