MANILA, Philippines — Major infrastructure projects are poised to transform Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone into a significant engine of growth not just for Luzon but for the entire country, Senator Mark Villar said.
These projects include the Clark International Airport Expansion Project, the Clark National Food Hub, and the Subic-Clark-Manila-Batangas Railway Project, all part of the proposed Luzon Economic Corridor.

“Kapag natapos po ‘yong mga projects–‘yong mga airport, ‘yong mga railway–I foresee that this will be one of the major engines of growth in our country that will allow us to reach the next level of development,” Villar said during a forum last July 17, as quoted in a statement from the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) on Monday.
(Once the projects are completed—the airport, the railway—I foresee that this will be one of the major engines of growth in our country that will allow us to reach the next level of development.)
The senator chairs the Senate Committee on Government Corporations and Public Enterprises.
Government agencies and private companies are collaborating to implement major projects and investments in Clark, according to BCDA.
Some of these include BCDA’s partnership with Maharlika Investment Corporation, which aims to include BCDA projects in the country’s first sovereign wealth fund.
