Zest Air expands fleet

Zest Airways recently received delivery of its tenth Airbus (A-320), expanding its fleet to 10 airbuses and 3 MA-60s.

The airline is acquiring two more A-320s within the year.

In a statement, Zest Airways president and CEO said increased business and the potential for more growth prompted the airline to build up its fleet.

Yao said Zest Air had a good start this year, saying that January 2012 figures showed the doubling of domestic and international passenger loads compared with the year-ago level.

“Our domestic-flight passengers in January hit 224,723, up from 150,091 a year ago. For our international flights, we had 35,638 passengers, up from 15,990,” said Yao.

Zest Air’s seat allocation also rose to 300,560 from 215,488 for domestic and to 44,340 from 17,352 for international.

Company senior vice president Butch Rodriguez said the increasing demand for air travel contributed to the airline’s growth.

Rodriguez said the airline would launch in June flights to Incheon, Korea; and Shanghai, China, from Manila, and direct flights from Manila to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in October.

Zest Air is also launching Clark-Hong Kong, Clark-Bangkok and Clark-Singapore flights in the last quarter of 2012.
