MANILA — The Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (Apeco) will inaugurate this month two of 10 projects that were not finished by the past administration.

Apeco president and chief executive officer Gil Taway IV told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) that it will soon finish construction of the P27-million Fire Station Project and the P28-million Sewage Treatment Plant Project Phase 1.

The P60-million Central Water Project Phase 1 will be finished next as the project is around 60 to 70 percent complete, the Apeco chief said.

“This is very timely after the visit of President (Ferdinand R.) Marcos (Jr.) in Aurora,” Taway said in a recent interview. “We are fast-tracking all of these projects.”

Earlier, Taway shared to PNA that there are 10 projects in Apeco amounting to P796 million that were left unfinished by the past administration.

He said some of the contracts of these projects were terminated and offered for rebidding.

During his visit to Baler last July 12, Marcos vowed to continue the unfinished projects.

“One of the issues we are finding a solution for is the abandoned Apeco projects worth about P800 million,” Marcos said.

“This has been a huge waste which could have been benefiting the people of Aurora by now,” he added. (PNA)
