The Blockchain Council of the Philippines Board of Trustees, along with USEC. Francesca M. Del Rosario, Chief Information Officer of the Department of Budget and Management, officially opened the Annual General Membership program.

MANILA, Philippines — The Blockchain Council of the Philippines held its Annual General Membership Meeting on June 19, 2024 at Enderun, Capitol Commons, Pasig City, marking a pivotal moment in the organization’s growth.

The annual membership meeting aims to strengthen the council through partnerships, introduce a dynamic Advisory Board, and welcome new members into the fold.

Dr. Donald Lim, President of DITO CME, set the tone for the event with his opening remarks, underscoring the importance of collaboration in advancing blockchain technology.

One of the main highlights of the event was the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with several key partners, marking significant steps toward the Council’s mission to enhance blockchain technology adoption and education.

Pantheon Holdings, led by President Brian Poe Llamanzares, solidified its commitment to the blockchain community by signing an MOU aimed at providing exclusive benefits to members.

“With Pantheon’s diverse subsidiaries in the Food and Beverage industry, we can extend special discounts to our Blockchain Council members,” shared Llamanzares. These discounts will be redeemable at selected Pantheon partner companies, enhancing the value proposition of blockchain membership.

Another notable partnership was forged with Oracle Media Group (OMG), as its Chief Operating Officer, Faye Abrihan, signed an MOU to launch a dedicated Crypto News Section on the Negosyante News website.

“With this partnership, we’re excited to launch a dedicated Crypto News section. This platform will highlight innovations, particularly from the Blockchain Council, and support the community by featuring their editorial contributions on blockchain and cryptocurrency,” said Abrihan.

“We welcome any announcements related to your work in crypto. It’s our pleasure to review them and consider publishing them through our editorial. It’s our way of helping the community, so feel free to send us your articles,” added Llamanzares.

This collaboration will empower members of the Blockchain Council of the Philippines to share news updates and contribute editorial content on cryptocurrency and related topics.

The event also celebrated the Council’s international collaboration with Blockchain Australia, represented by its Founder, Ronald Tucker. “Tonight, we mark another step in our commitment to international collaboration. This MOU represents not just a partnership but also the future of blockchain technology and its potential to drive education and economic growth,” Tucker remarked.

Furthermore, the Blockchain Council of the Philippines proudly introduced its new Advisory Board: Mr. Raymond Babst, president and CEO of Direct Agent 5, Inc. (DA5); Mr. Nichel Gaba, founder and CEO of PDAX; Mr. Jay Ricky Villarante, CEO of Moneybees and 8Ventures; and Mr. Wei Zhou, CEO of Coins.ph.

Each advisor pledged to uphold the Council’s mission, advocating for ethical blockchain use, prioritizing decentralization, security, and trust, and promoting continuous learning and collaboration. They committed to working with government entities to advance innovative solutions for societal benefit, ensuring blockchain serves the greater good.

In addition, Atty. Mark Gorriceta announced the initiation of the Philippine Blockchain Report 2024. This collaborative effort aims to provide a comprehensive report on blockchain, offering insights into the current state of the ecosystem and the latest trends.
