Survey to choose 2025 Best Employers begins

Written by: Linda B. Bolido

A survey of employees of different companies that will determine who will be the Philippines 2025 Best Employers is now underway.

Thousands of employees will be asked to rate their employers to draw up a definitive list of the country’s best employers. Survey participants work for or know quite well one or more of the hundreds of nominees whose names were submitted during the month-long nomination period that ended on April 23.

Respondents can either rate their own company or rate other companies within their own industry that they feel they can confidently recommend to friends or family.

The survey that will identify the 2025 Best Employers, a search jointly undertaken by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, in collaboration with German market research firm Statista, Inc., will run from May 20 to July 1.

The annual project recognizes that employees are in the best position to know what kind of an employer a company is. It seeks to find out from the employees themselves if a company lives up to the public persona it cultivates.

What kind of an employer a company is should be as important as the bottom line. After all, an impressive bottom line owes much to an inspired, motivated, dedicated, and loyal human resource.

How a company treats its people is also a reflection of its commitment to the good of the Filipino community, in general, and the country and the planet, as a whole. If it fails to meet its responsibilities as an employer, chances are it will also be unable to fulfill its responsibilities in corporate citizenship.

Employees will embrace wholeheartedly a company’s goals and objectives if they know that its growth and success will also mean better benefits and work conditions for them.

The Philippines’ Best Employers project seeks to find out how well employers are perceived by their own people. It gives employees the chance to rate the companies they work for based on their personal experiences.

This focus on the employees’ opinions and beliefs makes the annual undertaking stand out, as it provides a definitive list of who really are the best out there, based on their own people’s assessment, among the thousands of companies in the Philippines that have at least 250 employees.

The survey will evaluate not only nominated companies but all employers in the Philippines with a staff of at least 250 people. Potentially eligible companies were previously researched by Statista using numerous sources, e.g. industry associations, trade journals, economic databases, etc.

Survey respondents can also discuss other employers via a free entry option. These companies will also be considered. Statista will make sure it does not limit the eligible companies here. While companies could be nominated during the nomination period, the nomination does not guarantee inclusion in the final list.

The Philippines’ Best Employers 2025 is a large-scale and comprehensive employer study that assesses the attractiveness of employers in the Philippines based on an independent employee survey. The Inquirer and Statista first survey resulted on the basis of direct and indirect recommendations. A greater weight will be given to direct recommendations (i.e. willingness of the participants to recommend their own employer).

For the purpose of further analyses and editorial input, respondents will be asked over 30 additional questions about work-related topics. They will rate their own employer on various aspects of their job (from salary and work-life balance to potential for development), their work environment (colleagues and superiors, equipment), as well as the reputation of their employer (image, growth). The rate of agreement/disagreement regarding the statements will be measured on a 5-point Likert scale, a global scale used to assess attitudes and views.

Survey participants can make direct and/or indirect recommendations. While they will be asked about their own employers, they are free to recommend an employer in their own industry based on their personal experience with it.

The survey participants’ willingness to recommend is the main component overall of the score calculation, which will take into account, direct and indirect recommendation. A greater weight is given to direct recommendations.
