Gogoro adds more charging stations across Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Gogoro Philippines is keen on improving the adoption of electric scooters in the country by setting up more battery-swapping stations and offering financing for customers who might need extra time paying for a unit that costs at least P255,000.

Bernie Llamzon, president and CEO of the Ayala-led company, said in a virtual briefing on Wednesday that an additional seven battery stations will be built across Metro Manila before this quarter ends.

So far, Gogoro has 14 battery stations in Taguig, Parañaque, Makati and Pasig, among others. The company previously shared its plan of establishing 20 to 30 facilities this year.

While Llamzon has observed the “continuing interest” in electric vehicles (EVs), he understood that other customers may find the prices “a little stiff for their budgets.” A price list shows Gogoro units in the country cost P255,000 to P285,000 each.

In response, the e-mobility brand is launching this quarter affordable financing options.

Gogoro also plans on introducing more affordable models by the third quarter.

In November last year, Gogoro launched two monthly energy subscription plans, allowing its users to navigate the roads in a sustainable manner.

Plan 799 provides users 300-ampere hour (Ah) allotment, which allows travel distances of up to 420 kilometers. Plan 999, meanwhile, includes a 500-Ah package that supports driving of up to 700 km.

The subscription has no lock-up period, allowing riders to change plans at any time.

Llamzon said they were also targeting to offer prepaid subscriptions at lower prices to drive more interest. INQ
