ON MAY 27, 2011, Edsa Shangri-La, Manila was informed about potentially food-related illness of guests attending an event at the hotel the previous evening.

The hotel immediately launched and has since concluded a full internal investigation. As per the Shangri-La’s food safety protocol food samples prepared and served by the hotel during the dinner were kept back and sent to an independent laboratory for analysis. The test conducted by Intertek Testing Services Philippines Inc. turned out negative for any pathogen for all samples. A number of food items were brought to the hotel by third party sponsors and were not available for testing.

The health and safety of our guests is our first priority and the hotel has established and follows stringent guidelines for the proper preparation and handling of food items to ensure a clean and safe environment.

The hotel has been in communication with the organizer of the events to provide regular updates and all guests have fully recovered.
