Solmux kicks off its series of health awareness activities in barangays

Solmux, a highly trusted brand of cough medicine from Unilab Inc., recently gathered all the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) of Mandaluyong City together with other community volunteers to give a health awareness activity and to re-introduce the upgraded version of the popular over-the-counter product — Solmux Advance with Zinc held at the Mandaluyong City College Gymnasium.

The event, themed “Huwag Palalain, Ubo ay Supilin”, aimed to empower and equip BHWs and community workers with updated information to combat infectious diseases and cough symptoms effectively.

“Ang ubo ay hindi sakit pero isang sintomas lamang na nagsisignal sa ating utak na mayroong foreign body na pumasok sa ating katawan para ilabas natin ito sa pag-ubo para maalis sa ating respiratory system, (Coughing is not an illness but a symptom that serves as a signal from our body, prompting us to expel foreign bodies from our respiratory system),” explained Dr. Julian.

He praised the organizers for their efforts in fostering community awareness and providing essential healthcare support to the attendees.

“This is a very great project by Solmux Advance, not just for the improved product but for more awareness for the people especially our frontline workers like our BHWs,” he added.

A seasoned BHW also shared her sentiments and gratitude. With three decades of service in Mandaluyong City, Ate Loida Cruz expressed her thoughts and guidance to her fellow community workers.

“Nagpapasalamat kami at nadagdagan na kami ngayon (We are thankful that there are more of us now),” she said as she greeted the hundreds of attendees.

“Ang mapapayo ko sa ating lahat ay magtiyaga lang tayo, bago ang community, alagaan muna natin ang ating sarili at ang ating pamilya para makapagsilbi tayo sa barangay (We must remain resilient and prioritize self-care and care to our own families to effectively serve our communities),” Ate Loida advised her fellow barangay healthcare workers and volunteers.

Leevan Fong, Brand Manager of Solmux, emphasized the necessity of evolving medicine to address the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

In his address, he re-introduced Solmux Advance with Zinc, highlighting its liquid formulation as the latest advancement in cough relief. This innovative product combines Carbocisteine and Zinc to provide optimal efficacy in alleviating cough with phlegm associated with respiratory tract disorders, including acute bronchitis.

“Kailangang i-upgrade ang kilalang gamot (we need to upgrade our medicine) with the latest and advanced technology and ingredients at hindi dapat magpakampante (and we should not remain complacent) because health conditions and even cough symptoms are becoming more complex.  If not managed at the onset, it can lead to complications,” Fong added.
