Women belong in all places where decisions are being made. It shouldn’t be that women are the exception.”

Thus said the late US Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who was a fierce advocate for gender equality and believed that the inclusion and empowerment of women in the workplace and the highest echelons of society should be the rule rather than the exception.

Unfortunately, gender equality has remained an aspiration globally, although great strides have been taken in the Philippines where women stand a greater chance of becoming leaders, especially in the corporate world.

In this issue, the Philippine Daily Inquirer recognizes the 2024 roster of Women of Power awardees, who, by dint of hard work, experience and education, not only were able to break through the proverbial glass ceiling but have also created a bigger space for other women to excel. INQ
