MANILA, Philippines — Ralph Recto’s appointment as the country’s finance chief breezed through the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday.

No objections were made when the confirmation on Recto’s appointment was raised in the plenary.

President Bongbong Marcos named Recto as the finance chief in January, replacing Benjamin Diokno, who held the post since Marcos took office in June 2022.

Prior to his designation as finance secretary, Recto was a senator and a House of Representatives deputy speaker. He likewise served as the chief of the National Economic and Development Authority.
