EEI completes solar rooftop project for semiconductor firm
MANILA, Philippines —The power arm of Yuchengco-led EEI Corp. has completed a 235.44-kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar rooftop project for a semiconductor manufacturer in Laguna province in a bid to promote renewable energy use.
In a stock exchange filing, EEI Power Corp. said the solar rooftop system is estimated to generate 297,330 kilowatt-hours of power annually and mitigate the carbon footprint of I-PEX Philippines Inc. by 116 metric tons a year.
This is equivalent to saving 50,675 liters of gasoline annually, according to the company.
It is likewise expected to reduce I-PEX’s reliance on conventional energy sources as part of its push toward clean energy solutions.

I-PEX specializes in designing and manufacturing connectors, sensors and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
EEI Power, the power generation subsidiary of EEI Corp., previously partnered with electrical manufacturing firm International Wiring System (Phils) Corp. (IWSP) to construct a 1,800-kWp solar rooftop system in Tarlac City.
The project will be composed of 1,800 pieces of 500-watt solar PV panels that will provide at least 40 percent of the daytime load requirement of IWSP’s Building 6.
Apart from power generation, EEI Power is also engaged in retail electricity supply through its wholly owned subsidiary, EEI Energy Solutions Corp.
EEI Power has a 10-percent interest in PetroGreen Energy Corp., 20 percent in PetroWind Energy Inc.’s 36-megawatt Nabas-1 wind farm in Aklan province, and 44 percent in the 50-MW Tarlac-1 solar PV power plant of PetroSolar Energy Inc.
