New XE variant gives more reason to cherish the Toyota Innova

The Toyota Innova, for the longest time, has been one of the best-selling vehicles in the country today.
This multipurpose vehicle has captured most of the markets in the Asian region primarily because of the vehicle’s sheer functionality, versatility, and reliability.
Locally, the Innova is a popular choice among Filipinos as this people mover not only carries with it a Toyota badge, but also the function and performance we yearn for. Practically, it’s like an ageless stallion ready to carry passengers around in whatever road it may be, whether it be in the far rural outskirts or the busy urban jungle.
This reliable daily driver outclasses other contenders in its segment with a slew of remarkable features. Undeniably, the one thing that Filipinos can’t keep their hands off the vehicle is its turbo diesel engine, not to mention its seven to eight-seater ladder-frame construction.
In terms of numbers, the Toyota Innova has been dominating the local market since its inception in 2005. In 2023 alone, it garnered a sale of 16,728 units, making it the sixth best-selling vehicle in the country.
Other than the vehicle’s features, the other factor that contributed to its success is the Japanese carmaker’s exceptional aftersales service and vast dealership network nationwide.
Recently, just to perk things up further for the local market, the Japanese carmaker introduced the new entry-level automatic transmission Toyota Innova XE.
Being an entry-level automatic transmission variant, the XE carries the same profile features as the base Innova J. On the outside, it dons the same features as its sibling, particularly with its 16-inch steel wheels with full rim covers, making the two variants stand out.
Inside, the vehicle may not have the luxury of leather upholstery such as other higher-tier variants. But, still, it enjoys comfortable fabric seats, a seven-inch display audio with steering wheel-mounted controls, power outlet, keyless entry, and power windows. For the air conditioning, it has manual climate controls. While for its entertainment system, it features six speakers with AM, FM, Bluetooth, USB, and AUX connectivity. It’s navigation-ready, as well.
Under its hood is the familiar 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV turbo diesel power mill that produces 174ps and 360 N-m of torque. This is then mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels. With it are power and eco modes that make the vehicle adapt according to what the driving situation needs.
Other features include: A driver’s airbag, front passenger’s airbag, knee airbag, electronic brake distribution, anti-lock brake system, stability control, electronic door locks, ISOFIX, reverse camera, and hill start assist.
The 2024 Toyota Innova 2.8 XE A/T is priced at P1,375,000 and is already offered in Toyota dealerships nationwide. The vehicle is available in the following colors: Silver Metallic 1, Black 1, Blackish Red Mica and Red Mica Metallic.
At almost 20 years in the Philippines now, the Innova has become a vehicle loved by many Filipinos. And this newest variant, the Toyota Innova 2.8 XE, gives it more reason to cherish it even more.
