JG Summit’s expanded petrochem complex seen to create 6200 jobs

MANILA, Philippines — The newly expanded JG Summit Petrochemicals manufacturing complex in Batangas is set to employ about 6,200 people, according to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Marcos led the inauguration on Friday of the company’s expanded  petrochem manufacturing hub, together with JG Summit Holdings Inc. Chairman James Go and company President and Chief Executive Officer Lance Gokongwei.

“It is directly and indirectly employing 6,200 individuals.  You are a major contributor to an industry that is forecasted to enrich our economy by P215 billion next year,” said Marcos.

The new complex —which will produce petrochemical materials used in the production of packaging products, vehicle parts, appliances, among others— measures 160 hectares by the seaside of Batangas City.

“It is among the lynchpins of our industrialization, a vital link in moving up the value chain, and guarantees the supply of a critical production ingredient,” said the President.
