MANILA, Philippines  —American offshore staffing and recruitment firm DOXA Talent is planning to increase the number of its employees in the Philippines this year, doubling it to about 1,500 as part of the company’s expansion plans.

DOXA Chief Executive David Nilssen said that in the Philippines, they currently have 750 employees—all working under a remote setup, and constituting the majority of their workforce.

“This a place where we believe that there is diversified and rich talent to tap into. So, we expect to continue to grow here,” Nilssen told reporters on Wednesday night.

Nilssen said their top priority is accounting, followed by executive assistants. “So, we are seeing that a lot of businesses are thinning out their middle management layer,” he said. “And because of that, their executives are overwhelmed and they need great executive support.”

To help ramp up their hiring in the Philippines, the DOXA CEO said they will also roll out an artificial intelligence-powered tool to help sift through the thousands of applications that they are receiving.

Nilssen said that, last year, they received about 60,000 job applications from the Philippines alone.
