MANILA -Businesswoman Enunina Mangio on Tuesday was officially named as the incoming president of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), with the country’s largest business organization seen heading towards promoting stronger public-private partnerships during her watch.
The PCCI said that Mangio was unanimously elected by the incoming 20-member board of directors of the PCCI during its annual meeting held last Friday, with her two-year term beginning in January 2024.
Mangio, who will become the third female president of the PCCI since its inception in 1978, is the owner of several large businesses, including the SamgyeopMasarap chain of restaurants.She is also currently the vice president for regional affairs of the 30,000-strong business organization.
“I am honored by the trust and confidence that my colleagues in PCCI have entrusted in me. I will do my best to serve the chamber movement and represent the organization in the local and global arena,” Mangio, who is also an honorary consul of the West African country of Liberia, said in a statement.
The businesswoman said she would continue the work started by her predecessor, George Barcelon, who will assume the role of chair of the business group.
She also committed to proactively work with the national government in attracting local and foreign investors to the country, as well as to push for programs that will create more businesses and generate jobs in the Philippines.
Mangio, who is a licensed chemical engineer by profession, is a graduate of the Mapua Institute of Technology, where she obtained double degree in mechanical and chemical engineering,
Further, Mangio also holds a master’s degree in business management from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.
Her other private sector roles include being the president of the Servcare International Corporation, an international holding company which has subsidiaries in the United States, Dubai, and other parts of Asia.
She is also the chair of the board at the Mawell Chemical Corp. and at Choosers Choice Food and Development Corp., which is a chain of casual dining restaurants serving Korean and Japanese cuisines with a total of 56 branches all over the country. INQ
