DMCI, Meralco units join bid for DOE microgrid contracts

MANILA  -Nine companies including Consunji-led DMCI Power Corp., Manila Electric Co.’s (Meralco) solar power firm MSpectrum Inc. and Vivant Energy Corp. have prequalified to join the Department of Energy’s (DOE) first round of bidding for microgrid system providers to be held at the end of the year.

The exercise forms part of the government’s efforts to achieve its 100-percent household electrification target by 2028.

Also prequalified were Smart Power Solutions Corp., Alternative Power Resource Holdings Inc., Maharlika Consortium, Powersource OEG Services Inc., One Renewable Energy Enterprise Inc., and FP Island Energy Corp.

These companies plan to bid for the electrification of an initial 98 unserved and underserved areas.
