AirAsia Philippines is reporting robust bookings for a variety of local and international destinations ahead of the 2023 Christmas holidays.

It said the top five domestic destinations for trips between Dec. 20 and Dec. 31 this year were Boracay, Cebu, Panglao, Davao, and Tacloban.

The top international bookings during this period were Taipei, Incheon, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.

“Traditionally, Filipino families prefer to spend reunions at home or visiting the homes of loved ones. However, others, especially those who missed their summer vacation, choose to spend their holiday by the beach to experience a different kind of ‘white Christmas’,” AirAsia Philippines spokesperson and first officer Steve Dailisan said in a statement.

“In the same manner, younger, more adventurous individuals who’d like to have a short break from work prefer to spend their holiday get-aways with their peers and explore regional destinations outside the Philippines,” he added.

Significant improvement

The budget airline said it was recording a “significant improvement in December bookings”.

This was partly due to the carrier’s ongoing fare promos and lower fuel surcharges.

“It really pays to plan ahead. Early bookings will definitely save on cost as ticket prices normally increase when nearing your preferred departure dates. While fuel prices remain volatile, what is constant is our commitment to offering reasonable fares and deals that will enable Filipinos to travel,” Dailisan said.
