SM Prime has a long-standing commitment to its employees, considering them just as important as their loyal customers. President of SM Prime, Jeffrey C. Lim, emphasized the company’s dedication to providing a challenging yet rewarding work environment and recognizing outstanding employee performance through long-term development and competitive rewards.

“We consider our employees to be as vital as our customers. Tatang’s work-life principles continue to be the cornerstones of the company’s enduring growth and success,” Lim stated. “Being recognized as one of the Philippines’ Best Employers is an honor that reflects our commitment to our most valuable resource – our people.”

Similarly, SM Supermalls recognizes that its employees are the driving force behind their business. President Steven T. Tan highlighted SM Supermalls’ unwavering dedication and emphasized the importance of training and developing employees to keep up with the changing and fast-paced nature of their work.

Central to the companies’ success in fostering a positive work environment is the SM LIFE program. This program serves as an employee value proposition across the entire employee journey at SM. SM LIFE focuses on championing purpose, performance, and passion, with targeted people programs designed to help employees learn new skills, advance their careers, contribute to the communities they serve, and promote business growth.

“This recognition represents our commitment to continuously innovate employee experiences and to motivate them to provide excellent service,” Tan said.

Meanwhile, another SM Prime affiliate, SMDC, celebrated its second consecutive year of being on the list. SMDC President Jose Mari H. Banzon emphasized that their success is fundamentally tied to their exceptional team. He pledged to continue fostering a thriving environment for employees, where their talents and aspirations are not just valued but celebrated.

Through their innovative people programs, SM Prime Holdings, SM Supermalls, and SMDC have achieved positive results in various people metrics. These initiatives have not only attracted new talents, primarily through employee referrals but have also effectively retained and motivated existing staff. Collectively, the SM Prime group now boasts a robust workforce of over 10,900 employees, with 86% representing Generations Y & Z. The retention rate of high-potential talents remains high, and attrition across the group’s companies is well managed.

The recognition of these companies as some of the Philippines’ Best Employers in 2024 is the culmination of a comprehensive research project that covered numerous evaluations, the opinions of thousands of employees, and the scores for hundreds of companies. The list underscores their unwavering commitment to employee growth, development, and overall well-being, reinforcing their position as industry leaders and champions of a fulfilling work environment.
