Gerry’s Grill to open 6 new branches

Homegrown restaurant chain Gerry’s Grill is spending at least P90 million this year to open six additional branches all over the country.

The company recently opened a branch at Abreeza Mall in Davao City, its second in Mindanao, with the next one to be at Greenbelt 3 and Robinsons Place Manila, said Prime Pacific Grill Inc. chief executive Gerry Apolinario.

Another branch will be opened in Baguio City, its second in the area, and three more in other parts of the country, he added.

Each branch would require an investment of P12 million to P15 million, depending on the location.

The Abreeza Mall location showed a lot of potential, Apolinario said, considering that the mall stood on a 10-hectare Ayala development that also had hotels and office spaces, as well as commercial and residential areas.

While keen on also expanding its footprint outside the country, he said the company would be holding off on opening new branches overseas and would instead just focus on beefing up its local branch network this year.

There are at present three Gerry’s Grill branches outside the country: one at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore, and two in the United States. The US branches are located at Union City, San Francisco; and Cerritos, Los Angeles, both of which are home to large Filipino communities.

The overseas branches, Apolinario said, were performing “above expectations.”

Should Gerry’s Grill embark on an international expansion, he had earlier said the potential new store locations included Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia and Canada, particularly in Toronto, Richmond or Vancouver.
