DOTr seeks consultants for M’Lang and Laoag airports

MANILA  -The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is bidding out consultancy service contracts worth around P95 million for the construction of various facilities in two regional airports as the country gears up for an increase in passenger volume.

The DOTr is looking for consultants for the detailed engineering design of landside facilities for the M’lang Airport development project.

The gateway in Cotabato is one of the priority regional airport projects of the administration. The winning bidder shall complete the contract within six months from awarding.

A consultant is also being sought for the construction of airside, navigational and landside facilities at Laoag International Airport in Ilocos Norte.

The consultant will be given nine months to deliver.

The DOTr said the the bidding process for both contracts was open to local and foreign entities.

This year, the DOTr is eyeing to complete P1 trillion worth of airport projects in order to spur livelihoods in the countryside.

Rehab projects have been lined up for various gateways across the country, including the Bohol-Panglao International Airport. The P3.8-billion project seeks to expand the terminal to accommodate 4.9 million passengers annually from the current 2 million.

Airports in Bukidnon, Catbalogan, Tacloban and Kalibo are also set for expansion. INQ
