MANILA  -Gotianun-led Filinvest Group is set to develop a water recycling facility and upgraded sewage treatment plant in Muntinlupa to improve water management in the city.

In a statement, Filinvest City said its partners, FDC Water Utilities Inc. (FDCWUI) and Hitachi Ltd., would start developing the projects in December in time for completion by March 2026.

The sewage treatment plant is expected to process up to 15 million liters of wastewater a day, while the water recycling facility can produce at least 10.5 million liters daily, according to Filinvest.

Filinvest also noted that a membrane bioreactor would be utilized for biological nutrient removal at the sewage treatment plant.

FDCWUI is a subsidiary of FDC Utilities Inc., the Filinvest Group’s utility arm.

In March, parent company Filinvest Development Corp. tapped state-owned Land Bank of the Philippines to fund various projects, including a water desalination project in Cebu province.

To recall, FDC Utilities entered into a 25-year bulk supply deal with Metro Cebu Water District in 2021 to develop facilities in Lapu-Lapu, Cebu and Talisay cities.

Hitachi, meanwhile, will serve as a technical partner for the projects as one of Japan’s largest corporations engaged in telecom, power and infrastructure.
