MANILA -The revenge travel trend is not letting up as budget carrier AirAsia Philippines is targeting to sell 500,000 seats for Asia-Pacific routes in the final quarter of the year, representing a growth of 230 percent.
The airline said in a statement on Tuesday it has passed the halfway mark toward meeting this goal as the latest pre-bookings to locations such as Taipei, Incheon, Osaka, Narita, Hong Kong and Bangkok had breached 300,000 seats.
“AirAsia Philippines continues to herald the return of international tourism through affordable and convenient flights. In fact, we see our performance on international flights increasing to half a million seats sold before the end of December 2023 which further underscores that more and more travelers are now making the choice of flying with the world’s best low-cost airline,” AirAsia Philippines public affairs country head and first officer Steve Dailisan.
“We hope to flourish in the [Asia-Pacific region] next year as we open more destinations following the increase in aircraft fleet”, he added.
AirAsia Philippines opened daily flights between Manila and Bangkok, Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo and Macau from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.
Manila to Guangzhou and Shenzhen on the other hand continue to fly out of the gateway four times weekly while flights to Kota Kinabalu, Kaohsiung, and Shanghai fly continue to depart and arrive three times weekly.
“Aside from increasing the frequency of flights from the NAIA Terminal 3, plans to open additional routes to Japan and China via the Clark International Airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and Kalibo International Airport also excite AirAsia guests,” the carrier said.
AirAsia Philippines said it will offer new airline promo deals from Oct. 2-8 for travel between Oct. 2 through April 30 next year.
