Ex-PLDT CFO Anabelle Chua joins Monde Nissin board

MANILA  -Former PLDT Inc. chief financial officer Anabelle Chua is now an independent director for Monde Nissin Corp., where she will lead the audit committee of the food manufacturing giant.

In a disclosure on Friday, the maker of Lucky Me! Instant noodles and SkyFlakes crackers said Chua replaced Romeo Bernardo, who was recently appointed to the Monetary Board.

As director, Chua is chair of the board’s audit committee and member of the board’s risk and related party transactions committee and corporate governance, nominations and rumination committee.

Chua took an early retirement from PLDT in April, after working there for more than 20 years, in the aftermath of the telco’s P48-billion budget mess. PLDT soon after said it saw no fraud involved.

Following news of her entry to Monde, company shares climbed by 4.09 percent to P9.17 each on Friday.

“As Ms. Chua has much experience in her field, this is well received in the limelight,” Regina Capital Development Corp. head of sales Luis Limlingan told the Inquirer.

To recall, Chua was recognized as ING-Finex CFO of the Year in 2021.

Monde also welcomed Nina Perpetua Aguas as lead independent director, member of the board’s executive committee and chair of risk and related party transactions committee. The company also designated Daniel Teichert as chief risk management officer.

In the first half, Monde saw its net income fall by nearly 18 percent to P3.5 billion due to restructuring costs at the meat alternative business. It noted sales slowed during the second quarter as consumer prices rose.
