Insurance allows Globe users to replace busted phones

MANILA  -Globe Telecom Inc. has teamed up with insurance technology company Bolttech to enable postpaid customers to replace their cellular phones or mobile screen any time if they are subscribed to a device protection policy.

In a statement on Monday, the telco giant announced the launch of Gadget Xchange, a new mobile device program allowing postpaid device switching with “no questions asked.”

Globe postpaid and platinum customers can avail of this offering through monthly subscription ranging from P89 for entry-level phones to P499 for high-end devices.

The Ayala-led company said device switching or mobile screen replacement services could be requested at any time, with free pick-up or doorstep delivery. The new device has a warranty of 12 months while screen replacements have three months.

The telco player introduced the program in line with a recent Bolttech study stating that Filipino mobile plan customers’ top concerns include cracked device screen, accidental breakage and liquid damage.

The same study revealed that 50 percent of its respondents see the need for gadget insurance.

“With Gadget Xchange, Globe Postpaid customers no longer have to wait for their contract renewal to change their devices, and they get to easily ensure device protection,” Globe consumer mobile business head Darius Delgado said.

Baldev Singh, Bolttech CEO in Southeast Asia, said both parties “share a vision of providing customers with an enhanced experience, making it easy and convenient, with added flexibility and choice in obtaining the protection they need.”

Bolttech is a digital insurance service provider launched in 2020 with presence in over 30 markets across Asia, United States and Europe.

This quarter, Globe is set to launch its eSIM (electronic subscriber identity module) prepaid product, which was first introduced in 2018 for postpaid customers only. INQ
