NOW links up with Fortinet to protect 5G network

MANILA   -NOW Corp. continues to beef up its 5G initiative through a partnership with global cybersecurity company Fortinet Inc.

The parties have teamed up to come up with cybersecurity solutions for 5G-enabled networks catering to enterprise clients.

NOW is leveraging Fortinet’s expertise in tracking potential system vulnerabilities in order to put into place appropriate measures against hackers.

Henry Andrews Abes, president and CEO of the listed company, said NOW was “committed to establishing a secure, high-speed, and reliable network that spurs not only economic growth but also ensures national security.”

“Leveraging NOW Corp.’s telecommunications and technology capabilities, enhanced by Fortinet’s security expertise, we aim to empower businesses with efficient security solutions, helping them thrive in an increasingly digital landscape,” Fortinet country manager Alan Reyes said.

Just last month, NOW inked a memorandum of understanding with Silicon Valley-based Celona Inc. to expand its current broadband telecommunication network by rolling out private wireless systems catering to business clients.

The company led by businessman Mel Velarde also partnered with Cisco International Limited to create 5G solutions supporting the telecommunications sector in the country.

It also signed a deal with the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (Ceza) last month to provide connectivity and software systems and services for locators.

The company said last year it was planning to spend P7.8 billion over the next 10 years to establish 100 base stations and build up its digital infrastructure.
