If you are a businessman in Manila, it is possible that you may have been invited to check out the latest integrated resort near the airport known as Resorts World.

You may also have scheduled a business meeting in the area or could be planning a future stay there.

Following are a few notes to consider outside the casino and Genting Club:

Marriott Hotel

The brand is known internationally for its exceptional service.  For lunch meetings, the hotel offers daily buffet specials with open theater kitchens serving various cuisine.

For ala carte, you may wish to sample the famous Marriott Burger that is supposedly served uniformly around the world.  Marriott’s history started in 1927 with a hamburger and root beer joint known as A&W (which had a franchise in the Philippines before).

Café Maxims

Located at the Maxims Hotel Lobby, this corner is one of the quieter areas at Resorts World and conducive to meetings.

While the restaurant service has yet to meet 5-star expectations (based on several visits, there appears a need for improvement on prompt order-taking, customer sensitivity and synchronized delivery of food and beverage), the High Tea Set made available starting at 3 p.m. is worth a try.

Mango cheesecake, panna cotta, macarons, and cream-filled scones are among the selections.  You may also wish to sample their ube ensaymada.

Passion Restaurant

Located at the 2nd floor of Maxims, they offer dimsum-all-you-can-eat for P750 during lunch hours.

Set business lunches are also offered.  Food and service are reasonably good.  Most of the dimsum fare is displayed on a buffet table except for a few notable items such as sharks fin siomai and main course dishes.

Some people are not aware that viands are also served and may already be full by the time they order other dishes besides dimsum.  The place is excellent for big group meetings.

Remington Hotel

Together with its minimalist interiors, this budget hotel that is part of Resorts World group provides plain amenities—no bar soap, only one soap dispenser located in the shower area, no gym amenity, no breakfast unless on group tour, etc.

The standard rooms have two queen-sized beds and guests are provided a common dining area outside the bedrooms. The hotel just had a soft opening and you could arrive on a day when they are still finishing work in the general areas.

Mall area

Resorts World has a separate commercial establishment that houses various restaurants, retail stores, movie and performing arts theaters.  There are various meeting places to choose from—Café Republiq, Starbucks, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and others offer more casual locations to chat.

All told, you may want to sample the varied selections first before finally choosing a place for your business meeting or overnight stay.

At Resorts World, there are many choices, and you need not be limited to a single spot.
