CitySavings rolls out mobile banking app for public school teachers
MANILA -City Savings Bank, the Aboitiz group’s thrift bank, has rolled out a mobile app that caters to the borrowing needs of public school teachers amid a push to become the country’s largest mass market bank.
Dubbed “Loan Ranger,” the mobile app promises public school teachers a fast, convenient, and secure way to check their savings and loan account balances, as well as apply for a reloan anytime, anywhere.
CitySavings, which is a subsidiary of Union Bank, said that more than 170,000 teachers and employees at the Department of Education have signed up to use the app.
If they qualify for a reloan, the user can simply apply using the app and without visiting a CitySavings branch. They can also check the status update of their loan application.
Also, the app is designed to ensure a seamless navigation experience, making it accessible to all DepEd teachers, regardless of their level of technological expertise.
The intuitive layout and easy-to-understand instructions enable users to easily perform banking transactions, eliminating the need for time-consuming visits to bank branches.
CitySavings has more than 140 branches nationwide.
These include checking their balances and paying bills and, soon, receiving and transferring funds as well as earning and redeeming rewards.
Meanwhile, Standard Chartered Bank, (SCB) organized school-based activities to support the DepEd in driving its 2023 Brigada Eskwela and National Learning Recovery programs in preparation for the reopening of public school classes and to address the learning gaps brought about by the pandemic.
For this purpose, the oldest international bank in the country, conducted learning camps at Maypajo and Baesa Elementary Schools in Caloocan City with Palarong Pinoy mini-olympics and eye health screening in partnership with the Eye Hear Foundation and Magna Kultura Foundation.
Together with volunteer doctors and bank employees, hundreds of grade school students and teachers benefited from the eye screening with provision of free eyeglasses.
SCB employees helped facilitate the fun games to promote traditional Filipino games and instill the importance of our national culture among the youth. They also raised funds to donate school materials for 200 students.
