Peza eyes Sept. launch of online market for locators

MANILA  -The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) said it was eyeing to launch in September a digital marketplace for registered businesses, which was aimed at developing the local supply chain and helping enterprises strengthen their online presence.

Peza Director General Tereso O. Panga said they were prioritizing the onboarding of firms into this first business-to-business e-commerce unified platform for Peza  locators.

“It’s a platform that will allow locators to sell their products and at the same time source their requirements for goods, services, solutions and technologies from both local and international markets,” Panga said.

The digital marketplace project is in partnership with Pasig-based technology firm NetGlobal Solutions Inc. (NGSI), which will develop, operate and maintain the platform.

Peza will be responsible in providing necessary documentation and information to NGSI, engage and integrate the technology firm’s system and other related services to support and augment services.
Panga, who spearheaded the project, said the digital platform would complete the local supply and global value chain in support of the country’s economy.

“This will also increase our competitiveness to attract more investors to set up offshore facilities and operations in the Philippines, particularly, in our ecozones,” he said. There are currently more than 4,300 locator companies in 420 economic zones.

From January to June, the Peza approved P80.58 billion worth of new investments, nearly three times what it recorded in the same period in 2022.
