MANILA -Converge ICT Solutions Inc. continues to make its presence felt in the local fiber broadband space after registering the fastest internet speed, but telco giants Globe Telecom and PLDT Inc. remained the most reliable providers, according to analytics company OpenSignal.
In a report Thursday, OpenSignal said Converge recorded the fastest broadband download and upload speeds of 52.8 megabits per second (Mbps) and 35.9 Mbps, respectively, this month.
PLDT and Globe ranked second and third, respectively, in both speed tests.
Converge was also the “outright winner for broadband video experience” with a score of 68.6 points out of 100, OpenSignal said. PLDT scored 64.7 points while Globe registered 60.1 points.
The internet service provider owned by Pampanga-based businessman Dennis Uy was also tagged as the “operator to beat” in Davao after taking top spots for broadband video experience, download and upload speed and peak download speed, among others.
Meanwhile, Globe and PLDT were acknowledged for having the “most consistent broadband experience nationally.”
OpenSignal noted the telco giants were statistically tied with scores of 50.7 percent to 51.7 percent in this metric.
“This means that 50.7 percent to 51.7 percent of our Globe and PLDT users’ tests meet the minimum recommended performance thresholds to watch high definition (HD) video, complete group video conference calls and play games,” the analytics company said.
Converge, on the other hand, scored 47.7 percent in broadband quality consistency.
