D&L opens P10-B manufacturing plant in Batangas
D&L Industries Inc., the Lao family’s food ingredients and plastics manufacturing company, opened its P10-billion factory in Batangas province on Monday, five years after the project was started.
The new factory, which sits on a 26-hectare property in the First Industrial Township – Special Economic Zone in Batangas, is currently in its soft-opening phase. It aims to ramp up to full commercial operations over the next two months.
“Today, we celebrate an important milestone. After facing several challenges in the form of a pandemic, strict lockdowns during the construction, and global supply chain bottlenecks, our next generation facility in Batangas has finally started commercial operations,” D&L president and CEO Alvin Lao said in a statement on Monday.
“This marks the beginning of an exciting journey as we venture into new global markets and manufacture higher value added products. Our Batangas plant puts us in a good position as global demand returns,” he added.
D&L said the new manufacturing plant is a critical component of its “next leg of growth”.
It will boost the company’s fast-growing exports business and allow the firm to offer a “one-stop shop” manufacturing solution for global brands.
Some of the products to be manufactured at the facility include coconut-based products for food and oleochemicals.
“The company is gearing up towards launching a full range of shelf-ready products for its export customers, made from coconut oil, for the personal and baby care, cosmetics and beauty care, household cleaning, health and nutrition, and food and vegetable oils categories that are sustainable, natural, and organic,” D&L said in the statement.
“This initiative offers a plug-and-play solution for global brand owners who are looking to beef up their sustainable product offerings,” it added.
