Yuchengo-led Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) tapped PLDT Inc.’s cloud technology solutions to help scale its business.
In a statement over the weekend, the telecommunications giant announced the successful roll out of its software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) solution for RCBC, which started accelerating efforts to go digital during the COVID-19 pandemic.
SD-WAN played a critical role in RCBC’s shift to a cloud-based system. It is ideal for businesses that operate across a network of branches.
“PLDT has long been a strategic partner of RCBC. They have proven their strength and capabilities,” Yuchengco Group and RCBC chair Helen Dee said in the statement.
“As our partners grow their business, we grow with them by supporting their digital transformation needs,” PLDT president and CEO Alfredo Panlilio said.

According to PLDT, the SD-WAN solution is a scalable system that provides better network automation, allowing enterprises to devote more focus on customer service.
“Since our network has multi-WAN branches that require a certain level of resiliency, we find PLDT’s Managed SD-WAN solution very easy to deploy. It has provided us with the needed connectivity across the enterprise effectively,” said Nilo Zantua, senior vice president and chief technology officer at RCBC.
Albert Mitchell Locsin, PLDT first vice president and head of enterprise, also touted the system’s benefits for the banking sector.
“Through SD-WAN, RCBC will be able to provide enhanced services and better address the financial needs of its clients, especially now that people have round-the-clock access to banks with online banking,” he said.
“Our SD-WAN offerings are designed to help steer banking institutions in the country through the transition, ensuring that they reap abundant benefits of digitalization,” Locsin added.
