MANILA -A joint venture between conglomerate Ayala Corp. and Glacier Megafridge, the country’s leading cold storage company, pledged to expand its footprint nationwide after opening its Cagayan de Oro facility.
The refrigerated warehouse, located in Barangay Tablon, can can store up to 5,348 industrial pallets and is expected to serve the booming Northern Mindanao market.
“This joint venture is committed to aggressively grow its cold chain portfolio throughout the country as it ensures food security and preservation in the cold chain corridor,” GMAC Logitech Refrigeration Corp., a venture between Ayala’s AC Logistics and Glacier Megafridge, said in a statement.
In 2021, Ayala infused P100 million in its logistics arm to help fund the venture.
Established in 2005, Glacier Megafridge is a leader in the sector with a pallet capacity of over 65,000.
Its facilities are used to extend the shelf life of perishable food meat, fish and dairy products around Metro Manila and cities in Bicol, Panay, Bulacan, and Samar.
“AC Logistics aims to use technology-driven supply chain solutions in addressing the country’s most pressing problems,” AC Logistics president and CEO Rene Almendras said in the statement.

Arturo Yan, president of Glacier Megafridge, said the company plays a critical role in ensuring “the quality and safety of food in different parts of the country”.
“We use the industry’s gold standards in building and operating our facilities. Our team is excited to use our technical expertise in providing logistics services to more clients and addressing supply chain challenges in Cagayan de Oro,” he said.
