BIZ BUZZ: Warning to AUB staff
The Ng family’s Asia United Bank (AUB) issued a stern warning to officers and employees on their use of social media just days after after one of the bank’s executives went viral for an offensive public post.
A mid-level bank officer apparently made a recent spectacle of himself after sharing a picture maligning former Vice President Leni Robredo as irrelevant with an accompanying caption that read “Nuff said.” That’s a no-no in the traditionally secretive, dignified and apolitical world of banking.
AUB distanced itself from the event amid boycott calls from users on popular platforms such as Twitter.
“We remind the general public that the views of our bank are posted only on or by its official social media accounts,” AUB said a rare statement on Twitter and Facebook on Wednesday.
“Opinions expressed by our bank officers and
employees in their personal social media accounts are their own, and do not purport to reflect the views or opinions of our bank,” it said. “In keeping with our bank’s core values, we have taken the necessary measures to address offensive social media posts of bank officers and employees,” it added.

Go Negosyo-Angkas teamup
The advocacy arm of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship has partnered with motorcycle taxi and logistics firm DBDOYC, Inc.—better known as Angkas—with the former offering free mentorship programs to help their riders shift their mindset to being entrepreneurs.
Go Negosyo said they want to provide such programs to Angkas riders, as well as their families, to help augment their income by starting their own business.
“The agreement with Angkas will not only empower Go Negosyo to further promote entrepreneurship but is also a major piece in having more jobs available for Filipinos,” said Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion.
“Through this, we can also help the administration of President Marcos create fresh employment opportunities for Filipino nanopreneurs and further boost the country’s economy,” he added.
Concepcion, who leads the Private Sector Advisory Council’s job sector group, earlier recommended to the President to establish a motorcycle micro business program to fast-track the development and empowerment of motorcycle “nanopreneurs.”
