Moderna to set up PH hub; 3rd Asia-Pacific business center

MANILA  -American pharmaceutical company Moderna Inc., on Wednesday said it would establish in the Philippines its third enterprise solutions hub in Asia-Pacific.

The Massachusetts-based company said the hub would provide enterprise solutions similar to its counterparts in Warsaw, Poland, and Atlanta in the United States, which had been established in May 2021 and March 2022, respectively.

“We are pleased to expand our footprint into the Philippines by establishing an enterprise solutions hub and commercial operations. The Philippines has a critical mix of talent and global business service expertise, which makes it an excellent location to scale efficiently and provide regional support,” Moderna chief executive officer Stéphane Bancel said.

“The addition of the Philippines site completes our strategy to provide regional solutions across the business,” added the Moderna executive.

He said further that the Asia-Pacific region was integral to Moderna’s business given that they have established subsidiaries in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.

Moderna said the hub would initially house finance, “pharmacovigilance,” medical and human resources personnel, in addition to commercial-focused roles, to support its direct presence in the market.

The US firm also said it would identify opportunities to host additional functions and business services as the company grows and its operations mature.

The company expects to hire 40 to 50 employees in the Philippines this year to man its enterprise solutions hub, which is being eyed to begin operations in the second or third quarter of this year.
