BIZ BUZZ: The unhappy wife’s rebuttal
Just like in any court of law, Biz Buzz would like to provide the warring sides the opportunity to rebut each other’s assertions in the court of public opinion.
So this time around, it’s the turn of Unhappy Wife of the legal eagle to spill the beans.
In particular, Unhappy Wife’s camp told us over the weekend that she had long suspected that her husband was having an affair with his lawyer-colleague, and that this suspicion grew several years ago as rumors began to swirl.
When Unhappy Wife started telling people that she and her lawyer-husband were estranged, he allegedly tried controlling her by denying her access to their conjugal bank account.
And when that didn’t work, the lawyer-husband filed a case against Unhappy Wife’s best friend—alleging they were lesbian lovers—and sending copies of the complaint to their friends, relatives and law firm partners.
The lawyer-husband then supposedly offered to withdraw the case if Unhappy Wife signed a compromise agreement giving him control over all assets, preventing her from saying anything about their marital and domestic relations, and preventing her from suing him back.
According to Unhappy Wife’s camp, the complaint against her alleged lesbian lover was filed “to divert attention” from the lawyer-husband’s own affair and to undermine the credibility of his long-suffering wife (as well as to pressure her into signing a compromise agreement).
Unhappy Wife refused to sign the deal. Despite this, her lawyer-husband “withdrew the case because he knew it was baseless,” one of the wife’s allies said.
Is this the end of it? Sadly, we don’t think so. Several online fora are already swamped with sordid—and supposedly strictly confidential—details of the Family Court complaint filed by Unhappy Wife against her lawyer-husband.

Makati City address scheme uproar
Residents of upscale Magallanes Village are up in arms over the ordinance issued by the Makati City government to “standardize” the address system across the city that houses the country’s primary central business district and some of the wealthiest residential enclaves.
One incensed resident told Biz Buzz that if implemented—as the ordinance calls for the replacement of “all existing address numbers” with new standardized numbers—everyone will have to go through the tedious process of changing the addresses on their utility bills, bank statements, insurance policies and parcels, and that’s just for starters.
The ordinance “adopting the standardized Makati addressing system” was issued back in 2020, but the city’s Urban Development Department had notified the village of the start of the implementation only last March 29, with the barangay residents expected to submit their new address numbers by today, April 24.
Residents, however, are not about to go through the motions of having their addresses changed, not until at least they get an explanation from the city government over why such a system is being pushed now when there are other more pressing problems that need to be dealt with.
According to the Makati government, there was a need to standardize the permanent address numbering of all buildings, structures and properties in Makati City “to ensure that every individual, building or organization can easily be found and reached, especially during service delivery in times of disasters.”
This sounds good on paper but residents claim that actually implementing the program will result in a logistical nightmare for all residents as well as property developers and even government agencies—a hassle that they say nobody needs to face at this time.
As to whether Makati City will indeed press the issue remains to be seen. As we say here, abangan!
