MANILA, Philippines — Professionals and aspiring practitioners in the print and publishing sector can now apply for a free training program on digital design, publication, and packaging as the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) opened new slots on Thursday.
Entitled “Upskilling the Printing Industry Sector Enterprises (UPRISE): Digital Design Pathway,” the government training series aims to bolster digital design skill sets of entrepreneurs and technical staff of local micro, small, and medium publishing enterprises.
In partnership with the Philippine Board of Investments and Philippines Center for Print Excellence Foundation (PCPEF), the current UPRISE training series is a reboot of a digital series conducted by the PTTC last year.
“While there are programs from other private agencies and public institutions, we’re working closely with industry partners like PCPEF and the National Book Development Board (NBDB) to bring our programs closer to the needs of their stakeholders and vice-versa,” PPTC learning delivery specialist Chino Borromeo told Inquirer.net through an online message.
“This series is one of many in development. We’re also headed toward next-level subjects like machine operation and workshop management,” Borromeo added.
PTTC has opened slots for the following modules:
Design Essentials for Vector Imagery – Illustrator
April 27 & May 4, 2023
Design Essentials for Printed Publications – InDesign
May 18 & 25, 2023
Design Essentials for Packaging Boxes – EngView
June 1 & 8, 2023
All UPRISE modules are whole-day sessions and will be held at the PTTC in Pasay City. Interested applicants can contact the center at digifab@pttc.gov.ph with their name, business/organization name, a short description of practice, and contact number.
