Jeepney drivers who earlier claimed fuel smart cards under the P450-million Pantawid Pasada Program may soon get an additional P2,000 worth of load, which they can use to buy fuel.
This fresh assistance was meant to cushion the effects of rising global prices on the local pumps, said Energy Undersecretary Jose M. Layug Jr. on the sidelines of the First Philippine International BioEnergy Conference Thursday.
Layug said the amount will come from the P200 million left from the budget originally earmarked for this program, under which the government distributed cards with a load of P1,050 each. Tricycle drivers meanwhile were given P150 each.
