Globe Telecom Inc., along with partners Eastern Communications and InfiniVan Inc., has laid down the fiber optic cable of the $150-million Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network in Zambaonga City, as the team ramps up the project in time for the completion next month.

On Tuesday, the Ayala-led telco giant said they were on track to finish the fiber project by April.

“This subsea cable project is proof of Globe’s unwavering commitment to providing a world-class network infrastructure throughout the country. By expanding our fiberization efforts, we aim to improve the quality of mobile and broadband services and meet the growing demand of Filipinos for reliable connectivity,” said Ian Valencia, Globe district business head for west Mindanao.

The cable laying started in July 2022 in Subic Bay, Zambales. It has reached 33 landing sites across the country.

The proponents of the 2,500-kilometer fiber project say it is expected to “deliver connectivity crucial to the country’s recovery from the pandemic.”
